Speculation regarding UTV Motion Pictures and Madhur Bhandarkar’s most ambitious film project ‘Heroine’ has finally come to an end! Actress Kareena Kapoor has agreed to step into the shoes of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and play the lead role in ‘Heroine’.
‘Heroine’ has been facing hurdles since the project was first announced. At the beginning; Kareena had been chosen as the film’s lead actor, but left the project because of script and date issues.. Then, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was signed on for the film but after 10 days of shooting, she announced her pregnancy, leading to a shelving of the project.
While Madhur Bhandarkar and UTV aired their ire over Aishwarya hiding her pregnancy, many names were being suggested as Bachchan’s replacement, including Tabu and Priyanka Chopra.
Now, that the project is back with Kareena, at least writer-director Madhur Bhandarkar must be happy, as he had written the role with Bebo in mind. Kareena’s dates, fee, etc are currently being worked out.
Kareena, on the other hand, has added another plum project to an enviable list. The actress has just wrapped up the shoot for Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Ra.One’, and is gearing up for her next release ‘Bodyguard’ with Salman Khan. She also has Reema Kagti’s next with Aamir Khan, Dharma Production’s ‘Short Term Shaadi’ with Imran Khan, ‘Agent Vinod’ with Saif Ali Khan and Milan Luthria’s ‘Once Upon A Time in Mumbai 2′ opposite Akshay Kumar.
